David Lindsay, the Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea, noted that the borough has some 60k visitors a day. Up to a million people attend the Notting Hill Carnival in the summer, which is also when pickpocketing cases are highest.
Elise Gallatley, Chief Inspector Neighbourhoods, reported that RBKC ranks 25th out of 32 London boroughs for ‘total notifiable offenses.’ It ranks 24th for anti-social behaviour and 19th for residential burglary, and 27th for homicide and sexual offences.
Lorna Platt, Senior Comment Safety Officer, noted that community wardens are on patrol every day from 7 am to 11 pm around the borough, excluding bank holidays.
Both Ms Gallatley and Chris Jolly, Senior Trading Officer, reminded attendees always to report all crimes. Jolly said that only 5 to 10 percent of scams and frauds, via phone calls, emails and texts, are reported by victims, which makes the crimes harder to combat. He reminded that the HMRC will never call and rarely email; they almost always communicate by postal mail.

He noted that management companies are responsible for fire risk assessment and escape plans and need to have one in place for every building.
